As a fic writer and dedicated lore enthusiast, there are a lot of resources I regularly use for my fics...
general hororen & mankin resources
- A fansite for hororen, run by the Hororen Haven Discord server.
- Like most Fandom wikis, this site leaves a lot to be desired, but it's all we really have for the Mankin fandom.
- This collection of Shaman King news is the best the place to learn new and upcoming Shaman King series information.
- A group of fan translators who focus on official Shaman King content, especially tidbits from the Funbari Chronicle mobile game. Their website is currently down, but they say it will return soon.
Doushi UH-OH Translations (Cargodin)
- Cargodin is a translator-in-training who focuses on Shaman King content and other various fandoms.
- Dit is a professional translator who occasionally translates Shaman King content on the side.
"Shaman King official fan book translations" by lucathia
- This is a limited amount of translation from one of the official Shaman King fan books. There are also more translations in one of clarinetkoko's comments.
calendar & timeline
"Shaman King Timeline" by mageofthepen
- This is a Google doc that explores the Shaman King manga timeline using direct information from the manga and supplemental material. My own timeline uses this one as a major resource. You can find their Tumblr post sharing the timeline here.
- I have the Japanese 1999 & 2000 calendar bookmarked for any Mankin information I need.
character info & honorifics
- A website that specifically explores Ainu culture.
The Ainu people and the Ainu culture (Japanese) articles on Wikipedia
- Info on Ainu people is soooo hard to find, so even a Google-translated version of a Wikipedia article is so helpful.
Chinese New Year Celebrations and Activities: Day-by-Day Guide
- An article that goes into great detail about Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions.
Japanese Honorifics article on Wikipedia
- The title is pretty self-explanatory. Many of Mankin's characters (looking at you, Horo and Ren) don't use honorifics, so this isn't suuuuper helpful, but it's always a good resource to have.
